How we future-proofed an automated logistics system from Güdel at SCHMACHTL.
When movement becomes routine, safety must not be an obstacle - but an integral part. This was the challenge that Güdel GmbH together with our SCHMACHTL experts tackled. And together we developed a solution that goes far beyond standards.
Güdel – a company that stands for automated logistics solutions at the highest level – planned a new system. One that not only performs, but should also be thoughtfully secure. From the beginning, it was clear: This project needed more than components. It required a coordinated concept and a partner who understood what matters. We at SCHMACHTL were not just a supplier - we were sparring partners.
Together with Güdel's technicians, we developed a security concept that is as individual as the system itself. Tailored. Modular. Future-proof.
Security as the key to productivity
Every movement within the system had to be monitored, every access reliably controlled. At the same time, the material flow must never come to a standstill.
Our solution: A comprehensive security and detection system that intelligently integrates into the processes:
- Satech safety fence for robust and modular perimeter protection
- Pizzato interlocks for precise, reliable, and tamper-proof access security
- Leuze safety light curtains with muting allow the passage of pallets
- Leuze measuring light curtain monitors the height of each pallet - in real time
- Reflex light barriers and a line profile sensor ensure perfect detection and alignment of the crates
Voices from the project team
“What convinced us about SCHMACHTL? Quite clearly: the understanding of processes, the willingness to work together on solutions - and the ability to integrate security as a functional component that does not slow down productivity.” – Ing. Josef Meissnitzer, Technical Management Güdel
“This project was a real example of successful, collaborative cooperation. It was not about delivering standard solutions, but actively thinking along - from the first sketch to commissioning. What particularly impressed us was Güdel's solution-oriented approach - a partnership at eye level. Güdel's overall solution sets new standards in logistics and we are pleased to have contributed to it.” – Mario Steinbichler, SCHMACHTL Automation
Collaboration at eye level
The path was - as so often - not linear. At the beginning, there were many queries, replanning, adjustments. But it was precisely here that the true value of a strong partnership was revealed. We at SCHMACHTL and Güdel met with openness, enthusiasm, competence, and the common goal: to create a secure, high-performing, and future-proof solution.
What emerged from this is more than technology. It is a system that works reliably today - and can also be flexibly rethought tomorrow.
